On Saturday the 28th of February one of our members - Peter Baker
- will be cycling 121kms to raise funds for Bushfire Relief.
As a younger man, Peter was an Endurance Touring Cyclist and
spent some time competing for the Gawler Road Cycling Club.
He made a return to the bike in 2008, setting a goal to ride
the 2009 Mutual Community Challenge.
Returning from a training ride to Kersbrook on the 13th of February
2009 he started thinking how he could help the bushfire relief
fund.
The goal was set to ride a 121km loop from Gawler to Kersbrook
through Gumeracha to Springton, back to Williamstown and home
to Gawler.

Peter has been astounded at the support received in Gawler. Within
24 hours the Bunyip offered promotional support. Gawler Lions
offered financial and infrastructure support, with further assistance
en route from Torrens Valley Lions.
Local community leaders, the ever energetic Mayor Brian Sambel
and member for light Tony Piccolo have thrown their full support
behind the project.
Members of Gawler Barossa A.C.R.M have offered support vehicles
and radio communication. Clearly marked, sign written vehicles
will arrive well in advance of Peter, stopping all town en route
allowing people to donate.
Alternatively people may donate by telephoning the “Lions
Event Secretary” Jim Downer on 0418821667
